Pace Bike Park opens at Dalby Forest

The Pace Bike Park, developed by the Forestry Commission, Pace Cycles and IMBA-affiliated trailbuilding group Singletraction is now opened at Dixon's Hollow, Dalby Forest, near Pickering. Dixons Hollow is a disused quarry and over 350 tonnes of stone has been sculpted into the massive table-top jumps and 4X course with a 175-metre north shore section alongside. It represents the first stage in a £400,000 bid to make the 8,600-acre Dalby forest one of Britain's top mountain biking venues. Also open is a 10km trail linking the Bike Park with the Dalby visitor centre, which will eventually form part of a new 55-kilometre trail network. Alan Elves, Forest District Manager, said: "The bike park offers a unique experience. It's the kind of high quality, sustainable facility that bikers have wanted for years. Now they have a fantastic resource that's certain to become a massive attraction." Pace's Adrian Carter who was the chief designer of the Bike Park, added "Our goal has been to create something which is fun, sustainable and offers a real challenge to riders of varying abilities. We wanted to reinvest into the sport and encourage mountain bikers to challenge themselves and improve their skill."
